    Resources for Members Facing Layoff

Our union wants to be sure that any members who face involuntary layoff have the best resources and information available to help them transition to life after Boeing. Below are links to some of the resources you may want to utilize.

In addition, we strongly encourage that you attend two on-hour layoff briefing sessions. The first is a Boeing specific briefing lasting two hours that provides information about health and insurance, pension, payroll and the Employee Assistance Program.

The second one is a two-hour Washington State briefing, which provides important information on unemployment insurance, WorkSource resources, Trade Adjustment Assistance, training options, and state and local agencies available to help. The next Washington State briefings will be held on Monday, June 19 at 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

If you currently have a WARN notice, you should have received an email invitation to attend, along with a link to register. Please refer to the email invitation for instructions on how to register for these briefings. If you did not receive the email invitation, contact your local HR to get an invite.

3 Steps to take if  you get a WARN or layoff notification.

1.REVIEW the IAM 751 Involuntary Layoff brochure. This four-page resource is filled with helpful reminders, checklists and tips, and contact information.

2.SCHEDULE a one-on-one appointment with a Joint Programs’ Career Advisor. Career Advisors can review Employee Requested Transfer (ERT) job options, design ERT training plans, update a resume, explore community resources, and education assistance eligibility and options. To contact an advisor, call 1-800-235-3453.
3.LEARN about Federal Trade Adjustment Act (TAA) resources if planning to pursue training and/or begin a job search. Visit the TAA website to learn more, http://www.taa-washington.org/.  To attend a TAA orientation session, call the WorkSource TAA Hotline: 425.861.3704.  TIP: Plan to attend a TAA orientation immediately after layoff.
